Happy Labor Day. Whether you plan to sleep in, shop the sales, or barbeque with friends and family, let us never forget the meaning of this day. Labor Day is when we honor the efforts of those who fought for workers’ rights in the late 1800s. Their struggles led to benefits we now enjoy, such as the 8-hour workday, the 40-hour workweek, paid time off, and sick leave. Improvements in workplace safety and health standards, the right to form and join labor unions, abolishing child labor, and implementing minimum wage laws. This Labor Day, let’s take a moment to reflect on the contributions of those who came before us as we celebrate with an extra day off this week.
Remember, there is ALWAYS a reason to celebrate!
