‘Tis the Week Before Christmas
Ah, Christmas – that magical time of year where our credit cards get more exercise than we do, and the neighbor’s inflatable Santa stares menacingly into our bedroom window at 3 AM. It’s when we all pretend fruit cake is an acceptable gift and convince ourselves that catalogs of matching family pajamas are totally normal and not at all cultish.
Nothing says “holiday spirit” quite like circling the mall parking lot for 45 minutes, watching a minivan and an SUV play chicken over a spot, only to finally park somewhere so far away you technically qualify for frequent flyer miles on the walk to the entrance. Next year, I’m buying everything on Amazon.
Then there’s the office holiday party, where Dave from IT finally gets to show off his vocal talents and signature dance moves after three glasses of spiked eggnog. We all politely clap while silently updating our resumes.
But you know what? Despite the chaos, the questionable eggnog decisions, and the fact that glitter from Christmas cards will somehow show up in our food until Valentine’s Day – ’tis the season to be slightly unhinged.
Remember, there is always a reason to celebrate!
