Is using paper napkins at a dinner party okay rather than cloth napkins? Is there a rule?

Dear Myra,
I don’t know if there’s an official napkin rule, as long as one is handy. There are so many amazing colors and choices for paper napkins these days. It’s like a party for your face! Although, if it’s swanky event, cloth napkins might be the better choice. I think it could also depend on the meal. Cloth napkins are eco-friendly…but on the other hand, I don’t want my cloth napkins to look like a Jackson Pollock painting after a messy BBQ. In any case, using any napkin is better than wiping your hands on your sleeve!
